Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna Ticket Contest!

The MANnequin Party by Gino R Campodonico - Amaluna - Cirque du Soleil Miami - 1

Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna brings GIRL POWER to the Grand Chapiteau at South Florida’s Sun Life Stadium!

Mannequins! As a longtime fan of almost all Cirque productions, I was thrilled to be invited to the show’s preview event last week – and let me tell you it was quite the spectacle. Written and directed by Tony Award-winning director, Diane Paulus, Cirque du Soleil’s production Amaluna is a celebration of love and a tribute to the work and voice of women. The show features a cast that comprises of 70% women, with a 100% all-female band (too bad they couldn’t get the Spice Girls to reunite and play this tour, right? LOL).

Keep reading as a nice surprise awaits you…

Amaluna (ama, which refers to “mother” in many languages, and luna, which means “moon”) invites the audience to a mysterious island governed by Goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon. Their queen, Prospera, directs her daughter’s coming-of-age ceremony in a rite that honors femininity, renewal, rebirth and balance which marks the passing of these insights and values from one generation to the next.

In the wake of a storm caused by Prospera, a group of young men washes ashore the island, triggering an epic and emotional story of love between Prospera’s daughter and a brave young suitor. But theirs is a love that will be put to the test and the couple must face numerous demanding trials before they can achieve mutual trust, faith and harmony.

My favorite moments? Icarian Games and Watermeteors, Peacock Dance, Waterbowl, Manipulation and Chinese Pole. One thing I didn’t care for too much were the random comedy acts by the “clowns” – Jeeves and Deeda. Take them out and keep on bringing the fierceness is what I say!
