Weekend at Hyatt Centric South Beach

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing the new Hyatt Centric South Beach hotel on Collins Avenue. It was a staycation I had been looking forward to since becoming a #HyattCentricExplorer earlier this year.

The Hyatt Centric brand and I are great match because we’re all about exploring and going on adventures in search of cool things to do. As a Miami local, I love giving tips to friends and out-of-towners on what to check out during their time in the Magic City. That’s why I was so happy to become a Hyatt Featured Explorer and contribute to the hotel’s amazing City Guide. In the guide, I offer suggestions on my favorite go-to places in Miami – ranging from must-dos in arts and entertainment, to dining, shopping and more. Check it out here! And even if you’re a local yourself, I’m sure you’ll still enjoy learning about places you might not have had the opportunity to experience yet.

Back to the staycation! As I expected, it was awesome to spend the weekend at a boutique hotel that is so centrally located – it was so easy for me to get to where I wanted to go. And when I wasn’t on-the-go, I was able to take full advantage of the Hyatt Centric’s amenities. Let’s start with the room…

My room had floor-to-ceiling windows which allowed me to admire Miami Beach’s beautiful ocean views and its Art Deco gems at all times. It truly felt like staying at a private modern studio complete with a comfy bed, kick-ass free wi-fi and a robust mini bar to boot.

The third floor is the heart of the Hyatt Centric South Beach and that’s where we hung out when we weren’t out and about. It has a nice lounge with a library, a full bar and DECK sixteen, the hotel’s on-site restaurant. DECK sixteen is a Spanish-Mediterrian style spot helmed by Executive Chef William Milian and offers seasonal dishes such as this hummus trio, fresh salads with heavy proteins, a variety of addicting charcuterie plates, seafood, desserts and more. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and also offers in-room service.

It was also very convenient to have the pool, cabanas and sundeck on the same level as the bar and restaurant. Having quick access to endless pitchers of sangria and snacks made for the perfect pool day experience. You know a big part Miami is all about fun in the sun.

God, I love a good breakfast and DECK sixteen delivered with its offerings of chorizo frittata, Greek yogurt parfait and seasonal fruits. It was just what I need to get fueled up for a morning workout.

I started my workout at the hotel’s fitness center which carried the basics I needed to get warmed up. After a run on the treadmill and a few bicep curls (and a selfie in between lol),  I was ready to cross the street and go to my class at exhale spa.

exhale has a partnership with the Hyatt Centric South Beach, making it easy for hotel guests to enjoy spa therapies, full gym access and a boutique fitness studio. I decided to take the Core Fusion Barre class and OMG what a workout! The instructor led us through a full body workout for an entire hour. It was definitely a challenge, but at the end I felt so good and full of energy. The next day, I was hurting though…totally ok with that because it was totally worth it, ha!

I spent the rest of the weekend lounging by the pool with the essentials: a good meal, ice cold cocktails, a magazine and great company. After a while, we decided to end another beautiful Miami Beach afternoon at the beach. We took our hotel bikes and made it to the beach in no time. Having access to the hotel’s chaise lounge chairs and towels made our sun-soaked adventure so much more pleasant.

I had a great weekend enjoying my city with the help of the Hyatt Centric South Beach. It also made me realize that I need to make it to the beach more often. Sometimes we forget that we truly do live in paradise. Here’s to less stress and work, and more exploring!

PS I’ll be visiting Chicago for the very first time (!!!) next month and staying at the Hyatt Centric The Loop in Downtown. I have so many things I want to do and places to visit – I cannot wait. Look out for my next adventure soon, Mannequins.
